Privacy Policy
Yours alone.
Become is built so that who you're becoming stays between you and your devices. We don't run a server that stores your data, and we don't sell, share or advertise with it.
- On your iPhone. Everything you log lives on your device.
- In your own iCloud. If you use iCloud, Become syncs through your private iCloud account, which we can't see.
- Apple Health stays on your device. Health data is read and used on your iPhone only and is never stored in iCloud.
- No ads, no analytics, no tracking. Become contains no advertising or analytics code and doesn't track you across apps or websites.
What Become stores
To work, Become keeps what you choose to add:
- Your trackers, goals and everything you log, such as water, meals, journal entries, moods and habits.
- Your identities: the "I am…" statements you write and the habits linked to them.
- Profile details you enter during setup: first name, date of birth, sex, height, weight, and a face, icon or photo.
- Photos you attach, such as meal photos or a photo a day.
- Your daily scores, streaks and levels, which Become works out from the above.
This data is stored on your iPhone. If iCloud is turned on for Become, it is also kept in your private iCloud database so it can sync between your devices and return when you get a new phone. That database belongs to your Apple ID; we, the developer, have no access to it.
Apple Health
With your permission, Become reads data from Apple Health so trackers fill themselves in: steps, sleep, dietary energy, protein, carbohydrates and fat, exercise minutes, active energy, mindful minutes, and, during setup, your height, weight, date of birth and sex. If you ask it to, Become also saves steps you add by hand and weight you log back to Apple Health.
Health data is used only to show your progress inside Become. It stays on your device, is never stored in iCloud by Become, and is never used for advertising, sold or shared with anyone. You can change what Become may read or write at any time in the Health app, under Sharing, then Apps.
Signing in
Become uses Sign in with Apple. Apple gives Become an anonymous identifier for your account and, the first time only, the first name you choose to share. Become doesn't receive your password. Your identifier is stored with your data on your device and in your iCloud.
Subscriptions and payments
Become Pro is sold through the App Store. Apple handles payment and billing; Become never sees your card or payment details. The app checks with Apple, on your device, whether your subscription is active.
Notifications
Reminders you set are scheduled on your iPhone. Nothing is sent to us to deliver them.
Crash reports
If you've chosen in iOS Settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple may pass us anonymous crash and performance reports. They contain no personal data you've logged. You can turn this off in Settings, under Privacy & Security, then Analytics & Improvements.
Deleting your data
- In Become, go to Settings and choose Delete Account. This erases every tracker, entry, streak and level.
- To unlink your Apple ID, open iOS Settings, tap your name, then Sign in with Apple, then Become.
- To remove synced data, open iOS Settings, tap your name, then iCloud, then Manage Account Storage.
- Deleting the app removes the data stored on that device.
Children
Become is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the effective date above. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
